Throughout all levels, from Beginner to Elite, evaluation focuses on the technical execution of figures, transitions, and inversions, tailored to the corresponding level. Furthermore, synchronization plays a fundamental role, reflecting the ability of the members to execute movements harmoniously and precisely, generating a visually striking performance.

Aspects such as the correct execution of strength and flexibility moves, the quality of climbs and inversions, and fluidity in transitions are assessed. In duos, specific elements are incorporated such as partner tricks, flights, and interlocking movements, which require a high degree of connection and technical control between the athletes.

✅ Important note on the execution of movements in Duos and Pairs:

In the Duos categories, both participants are not required to perform all of the mandatory movements specified in the rules. Each pair may distribute the performances according to their strengths, as long as they adhere to the choreographic structure and evaluation criteria.

✅ This consideration also applies to the Duplas category. In this case, the choreographies may include moments in which each athlete uses a separate pole and other moments in which they share the same element to perform the specific mandatory movements of the pair. It is not mandatory for both athletes to remain on the same pole throughout the routine..

10. POLE SPORT GLOSSARY

  • CLIMBING: In pole, climbing is a movement in which the acrobat ascends (climbing).
  • SPECIALTY CLIMBING: Any unconventional ascent, to be considered well executed, must demonstrate a noticeable upward displacement of at least one and a half meters.

Unconventional pull-ups require greater physical skill: hamstring pull-ups; hands-only pull-ups (pulling the arm); inverted pull-ups.

EXAMPLES:

  • Inverted position: A strength movement that involves moving from a handstand position with the head up to an inverted position with the feet up and the head down. Hitting the post with the feet to assist the inversion is not permitted. All inversions must follow the rules outlined in each tournament.

It can occur in the following ways:

  • Simple investment: flexed arms and bent legs (bun ball).
  • Inversion with arms bent and legs extended.
  • Inversion with straight arms and bent legs.
  • Inversion in full extension, arms straight and legs extended.
  • Complex inversion: when the bar is not on the side of the body.
  • Decline: A quick and controlled descent on the pole, which must be a minimum of 1 (one) meter drop.

There should be no hand contact with the pole during the descent.
  • Deadlift: A deadlift is defined by the starting position of the body. The feet must touch the floor.

before entering the deadlift. The body should be extended away from the pole before moving into the deadlift. The pole should NOT be used to assist the deadlift, and the legs should not be used to create momentum, a swinging, or kicking motion. The deadlift should end in a fully inverted position. The deadlift can be performed on either the static or rotating pole.
  • Flexibility figures: A static figure in which the muscular elasticity of different parts of the body, such as the legs and lower back, is demonstrated. Flexibility figures must be held for a minimum of two seconds.
  • Legs: Legs extended in a forward or center-split position. The legs are collinear, aligned, and extended.

in opposite directions at an angle of 180 degrees or in a split position.
  • Lumbar: Bridge and arch figure in which the back is minimally perpendicular to one or both legs,

forming an angle of 90 degrees or less.
  • Lumbar / Dorsal: Bridge, Arch are figures in which the back is positioned minimally perpendicular

to one or both legs forming an angle of 90° (or less).
  • Plank: A figure in which the acrobat's body is suspended parallel to the floor with a grip from one or both hands. The position can be supported by a specific muscle region. Examples: ventral, dorsal, lumbar, hip, arm, etc.
  • Flags: Figure in which the acrobat's body is suspended from the pole with a hand grip. Example: one arm extended upwards and the other extended to the side, both in contact with the element, holding it with one hand; the element is in contact with the back or the neck, held firmly with the hands (axillary flag, dorsal flag of the neck).
  • Balances: Figures in which the body is balanced on the element, supported by muscular contraction and posture. Examples: Split or divided balance without the use of hands; vertical; figures with bows supported by the hands.
  • Others: Any other static figure in which strength dominates flexibility and muscle contraction and posture are required to maintain.
  • CLARIFICATION: There are positions that can be both strength and flexibility, however, when performed, they will count as a single figure. For example: If a flexibility and a strength figure are required, and the acrobat performs a split balance, it will count as one balance, and another figure must be performed to meet the flexibility requirement.
  • CLARIFICATION: There are movements that combine escape and fall. For example, a movement that falls approximately 1 meter (escape) and then concludes with a twist or change of body plane (fall).

If you have any questions about the figures or movements, please attach a photo of the figure or a video of the movement to the representative of the Azul region you have chosen.
